How To Restore Language Bar (on XP)

First, see if the language bar is accidentally disabled from toolbar. Compare following pictures.

No language bar:
Has language bar:

If you see no language bar, try enabling language bar by,
1. Right-click on "Desktop" area (highlighted in yellow square)
2. Select the "Toolbars" then "Language bar" to enable the language bar. You should see a check mark after it is enabled

If language bar is there but you couldn't find the IME pad, do following,

1. Right-click on "Desktop" area ( (highlighted in yellow square) and uncheck the "Lock the Taskbar" option.
2. Now, you should be able to drag the vertical bar on the left of the language bar (again, highlighted in yellow square) to the left to expand the language bar.
3. Identify the "Tool menu" icon , left-click on it and find the "IME pad" .

It is also possible that the language bar is completely disabled by Windows. Here is the steps to re-enable it.

1. Launch the Control Panel from Start menu.
2. Doubl-click on "Regional and Language Options" icon.
3. When the new windows opens, select the "Languages" tab, then click on the "Details" button.
4. The "Text Services and Input Languages" window will be opened. Click on the "Language Bar..." button.
5. The "Language Bar Settings" window will be opened. Please make sure the highlighted checkboxs are checked.
